Face-to-Face Capacity Building Workshop in Bangkok

SCALE Holds First Face-to-Face Capacity Building Workshop in Bangkok

From July 15 to 17, 2024, the SCALE – “Smart City ASEAN Network” project held its first face-to-face Capacity Building Workshop, alongside the consortium’s second project meeting. Hosted at the AIT Conference Center in Khlong Luang, Pathum Thani, Thailand, the three-day event brought together academic, technical, and administrative staff from partner institutions to exchange knowledge, enhance skills, and strengthen collaboration within the framework of the Innovation Vision Model (IVM).

The first two days were dedicated to intensive capacity building sessions. On July 15, academic staff participated in workshops on open and distance education, instructional design, and hands-on sessions on designing SCALE micro-courses. In parallel, support staff attended sessions on innovation and entrepreneurship, the European EntreComp framework, and design thinking strategies. On July 16, the focus shifted to smart city professions, the SCALE VLE, and smart city maturity indexes, complemented by practical training on course creation using the SCALE platform. These sessions were led by expert faculty from HOU, UTH, SDR, and ReadLab, and featured rich dialogue and active engagement from participants.

The third day, July 17, was devoted to the second SCALE Project Meeting, where partners reviewed progress and shared updates on key project deliverables. Presentations covered instructional design methodologies, entrepreneurial training initiatives, the development of micro and professional courses, work-based learning frameworks, MOOCs, and the SCALE web platform. The meeting also addressed dissemination activities and future steps for sustaining momentum across work packages.

This landmark workshop marked a significant step in advancing the SCALE project’s goals, reinforcing the shared commitment of all partners to driving educational innovation, building institutional capacity, and supporting the smart city agenda in ASEAN higher education.
